Google is officially launching Googlebook, a new line of laptops built on the Android tech stack with desktop foundations from ChromeOS and tightly integrated Gemini AI. As of October 4, 2026, Googlebook models are on shelves in the U.S.; on October 5 they arrive in Canada, the U.K., Ireland, France, Germany and Australia. Prices start at $899. There’s no information yet about availability in Azerbaijan or the wider region.

Built for your Android phone

Googlebook runs Googlebook OS, sharing a common Android base so your phone and laptop behave like parts of one system.

During setup, your Android phone can transfer Wi‑Fi networks, saved passwords and messages to the laptop with end‑to‑end encryption. After that, several features aim to remove the usual phone–PC friction:

  • Continue On: resume apps and tasks you started on your phone directly from the Googlebook taskbar.
  • Files: browse and open files and photos stored on your phone without manual transfers.
  • Cast My Apps: stream and interact with phone apps in a desktop window without breaking your workflow.

Hardware for on‑device AI

At launch there are five flagship models from Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo. All use premium materials like aluminum, magnesium alloy and carbon fiber, offer touchscreens up to 2.8K OLED, haptic glass trackpads and backlit keyboards.

CPU options include Intel Core Ultra Series 3 and Snapdragon X Elite, both paired with NPUs rated at 45+ TOPS for on‑device AI workloads. Every configuration starts at 16 GB RAM (up to 32 GB on some models), with claims of up to 14 hours of video playback and 16 hours of web browsing per charge.

Google is also reviving the Glowbar light strip on the lid, which shows boot and battery status and reacts when you talk to Gemini.

Gemini, Rambler and a secure dev stack

On the software side, Googlebook leans heavily on Gemini Intelligence:

  • Magic Pointer to invoke Gemini on whatever is on screen.
  • Rambler, a speech‑to‑structured‑text tool for notes and action items in multiple languages.
  • Create My Widget to generate custom desktop widgets from natural‑language prompts.

For developers and makers, every Googlebook includes Antigravity, Google’s AI agent development platform, plus a full Linux terminal. A Level 5‑certified pKVM hypervisor powers an isolated Linux environment for running tools, pulling repos or executing autonomous agents. Each device ships with 12 months of Google AI Pro (5 TB cloud storage), three months of YouTube Premium and Adobe Photoshop, and up to 10 years of OS updates.
