Adafruit has introduced the Metro ESP32-P4 Hydra, an Arduino UNO-shaped development board built around the Espressif ESP32-P4 (v1 chipset). The main microcontroller features a dual-core 32-bit RISC-V HP CPU running up to 360 MHz with AI instruction extensions and a single-precision FPU, plus a separate single RISC-V LP MCU core up to 40 MHz with 8 KB zero-wait TCM RAM.
On-chip and external memory include:
- 768 KB HP L2MEM for the dual-core CPU
- 32 KB LP SRAM
- 8 KB TCM for the LP MCU core
- 16 MB PSRAM
- 16 MB NOR flash
For connectivity, the board adds an ESP32-C6 providing WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.3 LE, Thread, and Zigbee. The Metro ESP32-P4 Hydra also exposes Raspberry Pi-compatible MIPI DSI and CSI interfaces, a USB 2.0 High-Speed host port, and a microSD card slot.
Expansion and power features include Arduino UNO headers, a STEMMA QT connector, LiPo battery charging, and multiple power input options. According to the description, this combination of ESP32-P4 processing, ESP32-C6 connectivity, and display/camera interfaces targets HMI, camera, and IoT applications.
