The TEKNOFEST Drone Championship continues to highlight high-speed technological sports alongside exhibitions and conferences. Organized by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the T3 Foundation and Savunma Teknolojileri Mühendislik ve Ticaret AŞ, the second stage of the event was held at the Batman Athletics Track.
The first stage took place in Şırnak, where 24 licensed pilots qualified for the Batman round. In Batman, these pilots raced head‑to‑head, and the top 16 competitors were determined. They will now compete for the title in the final stage on September 30 in Şanlıurfa.
Racing format and drone tech
The competition uses FPV racing drones typically equipped with:
- high‑performance brushless motors for fast acceleration,
- lightweight carbon fiber frames,
- low‑latency FPV cameras and video links,
- high‑discharge LiPo batteries optimized for short, intense flights.
Pilots fly using FPV goggles, seeing from the drone’s perspective and threading through tight gates and obstacles at high speed. Success depends both on reaction time and on careful tuning of flight controllers and electronics.
Participants and audience
The races drew strong public interest, with stands filled by spectators. Emrullah Yılmaz from the Anadolu Agency Sports Club secured a place in the top 16 in the Batman stage.
At the closing ceremony, Batman Governor Ekrem Canalp, AK Party Batman MP Ferhat Nasıroğlu and T3 Foundation Chair Elvan Kuzucu Hıdır attended and presented awards to the successful pilots.
